Obituary of Ord Wright

Appeared in a newspaper local to Monte Vista, Colorado; December, 1921
---------------------------------------

ORD WRIGHT BURIED HERE ON MONDAY

Funeral services of the late Ord Wright were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Temple. Interment at Monte Vista cemetery. Burial services at the grave were conducted by members of the Alamosa lodge of Elks.

Olin Ord Wright was born near Chariton, Iowa, Oct. 11, 1886; died at St. Joseph's hospital, Denver, Dec. 15, 1921; aged 35 years, 2 months and 4 days. He was united in marriage to Iva L. Burns, Dec. 24, 1907 and to this union five children were born; Harold, 13; Kenneth, 12; Evelyn, 10; Clella, 6; Lois, 3. Beside the widow and children he is survived by father, mother and two brothers, Tracey and Chester, all of Monte Vista.

Ord had been in poor health for the past two years and had made a trip to California for that reason. He was operated for appendicitis but the real cause of his trouble baffled the surgeons. As the end drew near he expressed his readiness to go and was happy in the promise of his future. The bravery and fortitude of the widow is assurance that the great responsibility of rearing her children without the assistance of the husband and father, will be ably carried on. Ord Wright's outstanding human attribute was a deep devotion to his family--a good father and a good friend.
