Benjamin settled about half a mile from Dodge’s Mills on the south road to Kensington. He was shot and killed by Indians as he was riding through his pasture bars on horseback, “and a lad, his kinsman, carried away.” Jury 1679, 1683. constable 1698, 1699. A Letter from Gertrude Hopkins
Several lines of evidence suggest Otis was born in 1899:
- His Army discharge papers list his age as "18 3/12 years" when he enlisted, and his enlistment papers are dated June 25, 1917;
- His Driver's License issued January 13, 1942, lists his age as 42;
- A letter written by his sister Gertrude says he was born in 1899.
On the other hand, the birth date shown on his grave marker is March 3, 1900. It is conceivable that he was born in 1900 and lied about his age in order to get into the Army.

William Fifield is the first Fifield to settle in America, and is the ancestor of virtually all U.S. Fifields. On April 16, 1634 William took the Oath of Allegiance at Southampton before embarking for America on the ship Hercules of London, which landed in Ipswich MA in April. On arriving in New England, he lived a time at Ipswich, then in 1639 removed to Newbury, NH where he became a freeman, June 2, 1641. Records indicate that he had the confidence of his townspeople and other tories in settlement of affairs in dispute. He acted as Attorney, Constable and Sheriff in cases of record. Jury 1651, 1669, 1677, 1678. Constable 1662. Selectman 1652, 1659. Sometimes attorney for others in court. The Quakers praised his humanity.
